  1. Is there a way to fix the top ply or stop it from splintering? (Photos attached)

It's more brittle than limba, so can break from the edge. Limba splinters are usually in the middle, usually due to removing the rubber. If you hit on the edge it kinda just craters, but doesn't splinter. Koto doesn't splinter from rubber removal, but some contact on the edge often can cause...
  2. Dignics 09c longevity

Tack to me stays about the same after the first couple sessions. I always use a sticky protection sheet though.
  3. Other candidates for GOAT

Deng competed against women, Ma Long against men. If Ma Long or any of the men's top 10 players over the years spent their career playing against women they'd be more accomplished than Deng. Keeping the GOAT conversation separate between women and men is to keep women happy, not to keep men...
  4. is it a grip issue?

Grip issue is most evident with maximal brushing and minimal hitting, which usually happens when looping a half-long ball. Dropping loops can sometimes be a gluing issue, assuming it's not a technique issue.
  5. Other candidates for GOAT

What the heck? I've never seen a sports GOAT discussion involving both men and women. They compete in entirely different arenas, comparing between them is like arguing about if Ma Long or Federer is the GOAT. They can each be the GOAT in their own arena, they're not competing against each other...

I actually find my heavily boosted H3 a bit too fast. I really just wanted the gears and the softening, so I'm fine with the boost wearing away. Hopefully it happens slowly enough for me to adjust.

Yea personally I don't have an issue with what Tony says, even if I disagree with some of it. It's just I think too many threads lately are being sidetracked, like this one right now. Also, I want to say that I really appreciate you and @UpSideDownCarl's work as voluntary moderators...

Tony there are quite a few other very active posters on here, and most of us have remained so because we have ways to get along with most others. You're the only one involved in flame wars so often, including with other very active posters, for a reason and you should reflect on that a bit...

If you have an older sheet of D09c you want to play around with, you can try boosting with 2 layers of FTL. It softens it up significantly and to me plays a lot more like T05. The "click" is harder to activate than T05, but heck a lot easier than before boosting, and it's still got pretty good...

Many boards have an off-topic sub-board, but my experience is that without heavy moderation they usually become a cesspool of insults, oftentimes involving politics, in our current turbulent world. As for blades, finding a blade that suits you is really important IMO, more so than rubbers...

Yes, let's stick to TT and EJ'ing! I had a training session today, went very well! Really stepping up with the BH loop/drive, but the best part was that my partner finally learned the proper timing for the BH counter! He was able to hit it quite a few times in a row against my block, and at...

Well...this thread took quite a turn. @Gozo Aruna doesn't even know what hit him!
  13. Any Oversized Chinese looping blades?

How oversized do you want? Most DHS blades are 159mm, the old HL5 and the current W968 national are 161mm. Larger than that you'll have to go defensive or custom. Note that for DHS blades the shoulder is usually a bit more tapered than Butterfly blades, which combined with the longer head makes...
  14. dhs long 3 vs fan zhendong alc

Viscaria is typically pretty available and has a significantly thicker handle, wonder if you'd like that if you have the opportunity to get one.
  15. Forgetting form during games

The key to fixing it is to find out what's the difference between your training and game, and then try to modify your training to be closer to the game. For example, if it's due to the unpredictability of the trajectory of the ball, then add unpredictability to your training. If it's due to...

Had a brief hit with the H3 BS 40 against the robot. After another 2 layers the sponge feels significantly softer. I remember trying out my clubmates' boosted H3 BS's, both 41 and 39 degrees, and both felt significantly softer than mine. Now it feels similar. Looped a few topspins and...

Hah, looks like not an issue for me then, my right foot is always behind, so just need to fix the landing with right foot first thing.

They've basically flattened out already, so 2 more layers will just get them back to how curved they were, and hopefully flatten it out a bit more. I'll probably glue them on today, then play with them tomorrow. The D09c isn't too hard, though 2 layers of FTL softens them up and make it a good...

You misunderstood me. I agree with your assessment and listed that as a positive for the unboosted H3 40 OS, that it transmits the power well on more direct drives. The H3 37 doesn't do that, yet it also has no catapult on more tangential hits. It's great if you just want to play a slow spin...
  20. Sweaty Hands :(

I use the ultra thin Wilson tennis grip tape, cut to 1/3 the length. It's pretty cheap and adds less than 2 grams of weight. I use it to make my HL5/national W968's handle slightly thicker, not for grip reasons. The flare of the handle is enough to keep it from flying out of my hand.
