Sakura Mori beats Adriana Diaz 3-0. Great power and just super solid consistency outclassed Adriana today.
  2. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

  3. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

Major upset. Nina Mittelham loses 3-0 in 1st round to teammate Franziska Sschreiner.
  4. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

Edward Ly didn't have any trouble against Olah beating him 3 straight. He gets into his offense early and often and was able to attack Olah's reverse pendulum that Kanak was having trouble with. We'll see both of them in MLTT.
  5. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

Shi Xunyao of China beats Doo Hoi Kem 3-0. She will meet Miwa in R16.
  6. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

Taiwan has some promising young talent. Kao Cheng-Jui beat Zhou Kai of China. And although he lost in the 1st round of the main draw, Taiwan's 16 year old Hung Jing-Kai beat China's 18 yr old Chen Yuanyu in the qualifier to get to the main draw.

USA's Jinbao Ma beats China's Yuan Licen
  8. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

Sora/Miwa out in 1st round of XD. Neither were that good, but Sora's body language and aloofness was very bad.
  9. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

Poor draw for the choppers. Sato could meet Hayata in R16 and Hashimoto in QF.
  10. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

I'm surprised Kanak had so much trouble with Olah's reverse pendulum. That's something I'm sure he's seen a lot of.
  11. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

Sato and Hashimoto of course advance to the Main Draw. Yuta Tanaka impressively beat Fanbo Meng 3 straight 8,9,3 following his Feeder Cappadocia title. Kanak Jha is up next on Table 2.
  12. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

If you go frame by frame starting from the point the ball leaves the hand, it looks within 30 degrees of vertical. Mentally breaking the 90 degree square using table as bottom base into thirds from where he tossed to the ball's apex it appears to fall within the first third starting from...
  13. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

I don't agree with Anders demonstration of what he says is incredibly illegal due to verticality. It has to be within 30 degrees of vertical. In his demo he says it's probably like 60 degrees which it does not look like to me. Here's his video at the timestamp where he demos an "illegal" serve:
  14. Kanak Jha sighting...

Good news for Kanak. Just saw through my X feed that Kanak Jha got a WTT nomination to WTT Champions Chongqing along with CXT. Host Wildcards given to Xiang Peng and He Zhuojia.
  15. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

Unfortunately, there's not much can be done at the amateur level. The will to enforce rules at the amateur level is near non-existent.
  16. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

Much of this can be resolved with more well placed cameras and some AI to adjust for receiver's point of view. Now with fewer tables being used at WTT events I think this is feasible.
  17. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

Main draw is out. Miwa and Miu Hirano are in the same quarter. Miwa has to get through 1 probably 2 Chinese players (Liu Weishan and Shi Xunyao) to get the quarter. Kihara and Ito are in another quarter. Kihara would have to get through Chen Yi, one of China's strongest juniors. Chen Yi is...
  18. 2024 WTT Contender Rio De Janeiro 5/20-5/26

I noticed Miyu Nagasaki is pairing with Sakura Mori in WD and with Yuta Tanaka in XD. I think it's a good strategy for Miyu to become a doubles specialist for future World Championships and perhaps go for XD in LA 2028.
  19. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

I wonder what the thinking for Hirano was coming to this tournament. For ranking purposes, it might have been better to go to Rio De Janeiro, but perhaps she thinks (and may be right) that she has a better shot against WYD and company vs. Hayata. However, she'll probably have to go through a...
  20. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

https://worldtabletennis.com/eventInfo?eventId=2865 Many Chinese players outside top 3 will be here. Good opportunity for top female Japanese players (Miwa, Hirano, Ito, Kihara) to test themselves and possibly even win this tournament.
