Breathtaking scenes just commenced in the Excel Arena in the fourth round of the men's singles at the London 2012 Olympics on the 30th July 2012. Denmark's Michael Maze who is currently world ranked at number 23 has just caused one of the biggest upsets of the tournament defeating world number 5 Jun Mizutani of Japan!

Michael Maze overcome the Japanese star in four straight thrilling sets with scores 11-7,11-6,11-4,11-6 causing a huge upset.

Michael Maze has been through hell in his sports career having a knee injury which developed in 2009. Maze even pulled out of tournaments in Feburary 2012 due to his injuries. However, during his injuries Maze did a lot of serve practice which was key to his success today!

In the opening set Maze was very calm and collective. He varied his serves which allowed him to third ball attack instantly. Maze maintained this momentum throughout the whole game, Mizutani had no answers. The Denmark's stars aggression pushed his way through to the quarter finals where he will face Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

Michael Maze fans in the crowd gave him a standing ovation, Mizutani looked demoralised as he lost the final point. Congratulations to Michael Maze and good luck in the next round! The pressure the Olympics puts on players is evident!
