Last weekend, TableTennisDaily's David Wetherill & Lee Wilkinson travelled to Sweden to compete in the Malmo Open - one of the world's largest disability sporting events outside of the Paralympics. Both were competing in Men's Class 6 where the number 1 seed was former World & Paralympic Champion, and current European Champion, Peter Rosenmeier from Denmark (WR2).

Wetherill (WR6) managed to upset the ranking order by beating Rosenmeier in the final 3-0 (11-9,11-9,11-7) with both players giving a fantastic exhibition of Paralympic table tennis. This completed a winning return to international competition for David and his drastically altered style of game (short pimples on the backhand). It has reaped massive rewards on the able-bodied circuit this year and should strengthen his claim in the run up to Rio 2016!

Special mention must also go to Brighton Table Tennis Club's Emma Ritchie & Harry Fairchild (for whom we have the short video clip to thank) who gained some invaluable experience in what was a very friendly and enjoyable tournament.

Will we see another superman dive at the upcoming Rio Paralympics by Wetherill?
