The twelfth round of the Chinese Super League took off to an amazing start on the 24[SUP]th[/SUP] July 2011 with some very interesting matches and results. Read on to find out who won between Zhang Jike and Ma Long, the two dominating table tennis players of modern times!

Ningbo 1-3 Shandong (Match of the night – Zhang Jike vs Ma Long

Ningbo’s destroyer Ma Long came up against Joo Se Hyuk in the opening match of the night. Ma Long was focussed and determined from the word go and defeated Joo 3-0 with scores 11-3, 11-9 and 11-8.

In the second match Shandong’s Zhang Jike levelled the overall match score by defeating Wang Jian Jun 3-1.

In the third match Zhang Chao and Fang Bo defeated Wang Jian Jun and Wu hao in a 5 games thriller.

The much anticipated match everyone had been waiting for was right before their eyes. Ma Long vs Zhang Jike. If you was a betting man, you would back all your money on Ma Long as he has defeated Zhang Jike 8 times in a row in the Chinese Super League. However on this occasion Zhang Jike overcome the critics and defeated Ma Long by 3 games to 2.

This put Zhang Jike’s team Shandong into top spot with Zhejiang, both teams with ten wins under their belts. This round has caused Ningbo to be further away from the title race dropping 1 place.

Sichuan 1-3 Jinzhou (Match of the night – Wang Liqin vs Qiu Yike)

Jinzhou’s star play Wang Liqin fought against Zhang Yu of Sichuan in the opening game. Wang Liqin controlled the game and won by 3 games to 1.

Sichuan’s Qiu Yike came up against teenage sensation Shang Kun. The match went all the way to 5 sets with Shang Kun just taking the last set 11-5 to secure victory.

Jinzhou’s 2-0 lead, led Xu Ruifeng and Zhang Yu of Sichuan to make a change to the score line. They beat the doubles pairing of Zhai Yiming and Shang Kun 3-2.

The last match of the night was against the titans of each team. Wang Liqin defeated Qiu Yike in a 3-1 win with scores 13-11, 4-11, 11-8 and 11-7.

This is Jinzhou’s third victory in the super league however for Sichuan its their eighth defeat.

Zhejiang 3-0 Jiangsu (Match of the night – Timo Boll vs Chen Qi)

The opening match up of the night for these two teams was a spectacular. It was a similar match to the meetings of the two players in the quarter final of the World Table Tennis championships in Rotterdam 2011. It was Timo Boll vs Chen Qi.

The match got underway between these two fantastic left handers and it was Timo to come out on stop and claim victory by beating Chen 12-10, 11-9 and 11-4.

In the second match, Ma Lin defeated Lei Zhenhua in 4 games with the last set being 11-8.

In the third game the doubles pairing of Zhejiang’s Hao Shuai and Xu Hui narrowly defeated Lin Chen and Jin Yixiong 3-2.

Once again this is Zhejiang’s amazing run in the Chinese Super League with this round being their tenth victory. However for Jiangsu they have still not been able to get on the score board.

Bayi 1-3 Bazhou (Match of the night – Yan An vs Xu XIn)

Bayi’s main man Wang Hao couldn’t produce the goods on this night as he lost in a close encounter to Bazhou’s Cui Qinglei in 5 sets. Cui won by 3 games to 2.

Once again the rising teenage sensation Yan An defeated Xu Xin in 4 sets with scores 4-11, 11-8, 11-9 and 11-4.

The third match as always was the doubles round. Yan An returned to the table with team mate Zhou Yu. The doubles pairing clean swept their opponents with a 3-0 victory.

The match the crowd had awaited for was Wang Hao vs Xu Xin. Xu Xin took of to a flying start and Wang Hao didn’t have much to answer for. Xu Xin representing Bazhou went away with the win to secure their team with the match win.

This round confirmed Bazhou’s eighth victory whilst being Bayi’s third loss of the Chinese Super League season.

Stay tuned for the thirteenth round of the Chinese super league 2011 as Shandong and Zhejiang will battle it out for the top spot of the league.
