Moregard has been losing left and right since 2023, even worse for the first half of 2024, that it's hard to imagine he is currently the highest-ranked player from Sweden.
It's the Europe top 16 points. And he is still a good player, regardless od the losses and the popular sentiment, he is just putting pressure on himself to get better and it hasn't worked out (yet).

Man he looked so good in that top 16 tournament until he lost to Darko in the finals. Remember being amazed by his gameplay and was thinking the Chinese league experience got him to the next level.

Feels like he's been sputtering ever since. It's a shame because his style is the most fun to watch for me. I'm hoping it's just a blip and not indicative of the style not working past a certain age.

Poret 0-3 Uda (-6, -7, -4)

Shinopi 3-1 Moregard (-11, 7, 9, 10)
G1 109, 1113
G3 16, 46 TO for Moregard, 47, 77, 78, 88, 108, 109, 119. All those nets and edges weren't enough to save Moregard.
G4 85, 86 TO for Shinopi, 810, 1210
Moregard got pinned down in the short game. He managed to disrupt Shinozuka's flow but the gaping loophole was just too huge to overcome.

2024: Where is Moregard?
2021: Here, never left.

Moregard was lucky his "creativity" worked in his favor at WTTC 2021.

Solid win for Shinozuka. Both Moregard and Shinozuka have fallen off the rankings quite a bit and are looking to climb back up. It's an upset, but you have to consider that when Shinozuka was in good form a while back, he beat a lot of really good players outside of China.

Polcanova 1-3 Odo (-11, 3, -7, -9)
Odo is fortunate to have gotten G1. FEE and CT are two different animals.

Odo takes out Polcanova 3-1. This was not easy as Polcanova is very powerful on both wings. But Odo was able to target the middle near FH side. Really great win for Odo. Great day for the Japanese women. They all advance except for Asuka Sasao who lost to compatriot, Sakura Mori.

S. Sawettabut 3-0 Pavade (3, 3, 10)
G1 80, 113
G3 24, 26, 76 TO for Pavade, 77, 87 Pavade served off the table, 89, 109, 1010, 1210

I wrote a few years ago over at MyTT (lost forever) that I needed more time to observe and that Pavade could've done better against Asian players. This match is exactly what I meant by that. Same old problem. She got lucky a week or 2 ago when Hirano (who actually led until the endgame in all 3 games) and Ito were fatigued (forget SYB).

HIrano and Ito don't count because they were tired? Well, I guess that makes Hayata Superwoman.

Not so much age, but when you become known, people have a chance to prepare specifically for you.
