Do you re-use glue application sponges?

I just recently found out that you can wash the little sponges when using water based glue (before it has dried of course).

Are you doing that or are you just using a new one every time?

Well, I tried that and found out that there is always some glues left over, so I quit that practice. The sponges are cheap I even used the ones for the household, they work too.

I had clumps of old glue falling out of the sponge even after washing.
Between gluing layers, or sides, I wrap the sponge in a bit of plastic foil to prevent hardening

I always wash them between layers and give them a final squeeze with a hand towel to assist drying. I do check for left over dry bits of glue and when i find any, I trim a few mm off the front of the sponge with scissors.
Disadvantage of this system : Cupboard full of still new sponges 😁

I used my finger to spread glue on my last two rubbers. I used copydex and had good result, but you have to be careful with the amount of glue you use.

I would never be able to spread the glue evenly using my fingers. Good on ye mate

I've found they leave small bits of hard glue behind so it's not worth the hassle.
